Search for invisibly decaying Higgs bosons

چکیده

In the last running years, the four Large Electron Positron collider (LEP) experiments collected a combined luminosity of almost 2.5 fb −1 at √ s ≥ 189 GeV. This data was searched for invisibly decaying Higgs bosons produced in association with a Z boson. The channels with electrons, muons and hadrons were investigated. None of the experiments sees hints for the production of such an invisible Higgs boson, thus each of them sets an individual lower limit on the mass at 95% confidence level. The highest of the four limits is set at 114.1 GeV. The combination of the final results has yet to be done and will increase the reach of the search.

Searching for an Invisibly Decaying Higgs Boson in e + e − , eγ , and γγ Collisions

Higgs bosons can have a substantial " invisible " branching ratio in many extensions of the Standard Model, such as models where the Higgs bosons decay predominantly into light or massless weakly interacting Goldstone bosons. In this work, we examine the production mechanisms and backgrounds for invisibly decaying Higgs bosons at the Next Linear e + e − Collider operating in the modes e + e − ,...

Searching for Invisibly Decaying Higgs Bosons at Lep Ii

We study the potential of LEP II to unravel the existence of invisibly decaying Higgs bosons, predicted in a wide class of models. We perform a model independent analysis, focusing our attention to the final state topologies exhibiting bb̄ or ll (l = μ or e) pairs and missing energy. We carefully evaluate the signals and backgrounds, choosing appropriate cuts to enhance the discovery limits. Our...

Results of beyond the Standard Model Higgs Searches from the Lep Experiments

Searches exploring the Higgs sector of beyond the Standard Model (bSM) scenarios are reported in the following submitted papers. The LEP Collaborations have combined their final results of searches within the constrained minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) including CP conserving and CP violating scenarios. L3 finalised their search for a narrow invisibly decaying Higgs. For the first...

Searches at LEP

Searches have been conducted for a broad range of new phenomena by the four experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3, and OPAL, at LEP2. Each experiment contributes approximately 150 pb of ee annihilation data with a mean √ s of 205.9 GeV in 2000 to these searches (data prepared for the September 5 LEPC meeting). The statistical procedure for setting limits and evaluating the significance of excesses obse...

HiggsBounds 2.0.0: Confronting neutral and charged Higgs sector predictions with exclusion bounds from LEP and the Tevatron

HiggsBounds 2.0.0 is a computer code which tests both neutral and charged Higgs sectors of arbitrary models against the current exclusion bounds from the Higgs searches at LEP and the Tevatron. As input, it requires a selection of model predictions, such as Higgs masses, branching ratios, effective couplings and total decay widths. HiggsBounds 2.0.0 then uses the expected and observed topologic...
